Iliyana is the Creative Director of Contemporary Art at Horsecross Arts, Perth (since 2004) and also a Research Scholar at Moray House School of Education, the University of Edinburgh (since 2014). Iliyana has over 20 years of curatorial experience in the UK, Europe and USA including Associate Curatorships held at the Soros Centre for the Arts, Sofia; Foundation for Art and Creative Technology (FACT), Liverpool; Video Data Bank at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois; Wexner Centre for the Arts, Columbus, Ohio; New Media Scotland, Edinburgh; Stills, Edinburgh; White & Givan Dance Duo; Culture Perth and Kinross Trust and currently at Margaret Morris Movement International; Friends of Pskov Association, Perth and Abbeyhill Colony of Artists Trust, Edinburgh.
Iliyana holds a Masters in Philosophy Degree in Curating Contemporary Art from Liverpool John Moores University (since 2011) and often contributes critical writing to various academic and artists’ publications and conferences.
Did you know: Iliyana was nominated for the Marsh Awards for Excellence in Gallery Education 2015 for her Artists-in-Residence initiative at Abbeyhill Primary School. The Awards celebrate the achievements of those working in learning and education within gallery or visual arts contexts.
